I woke up the morning of Allison and Deno's wedding with the rain lightly pattering against my bedroom window and I thought to myself: "well, shit."
I had done Allison's bridal session a week and a half prior and we had gone over everything that she had planned for her wedding day. She showed me where she ideally wanted the ceremony location to be (at Bella Cavalli Events, there are three very beautiful usable places for the ceremony, which is part of the reason why I like working there so much.) We went over the shots she really wanted to get and she casually mentioned "if it rains, we'll have it under the patio."
So I texted her and told her to try to get either a nice black or nice white umbrella and to make it big so we could at least get some shots under it if we had to.
I was also thinking that maybe for their wedding video I could do something fun and creative with the song "Ironic" because it was stuck in my head the whole drive there and I could see just embracing the fact that it's raining on your wedding day and keep the day about celebrating love and accepting the authentic story of the day and making something out of it.
Fortunately, we didn't have to do that as the rain was forecasted to stop exactly in time for the ceremony and although they didn't get to have it in their original spot down in the grove of trees, they were able to have it in the circle just outside of the patio.
And for the 45 or so minutes we were outside for the ceremony and family pictures the weather was PERFECT! (Which is fitting because the video they chose for their first dance was a very particular duet between Ed Sheeran and Beyonce.)
I couldn't be happier with the pictures and video we got and it has been an absolute pleasure working with Allison and Deno on ther engagement session, her bridal session, and now their wedding day, and I look forward to working with them again for possible maternity and newborn pictures maybe someday in the future.
