The Wedding of Micayla and Franklin at The Hillside Estate in Cross Roads, Texas

Yesterday was a pretty magical day at the wonderfully beautiful The Hillside Estate and I couldn't have asked for a better couple to work with than Micayla and Franklin. Their wedding day started with their arrivals full of nervous energy and excitement. Micayla went straight into makeup and hair and Franklin got ready with his groomsmen in the groom's suite. I decided to shoot some with the window in the background to give a moody silhouette look, then i followed that up with a quick groom's portrait session with his best men.

After hair and makeup Micayla was ready to get into her dress then have a first look with her father which was a real tear jerker; such a touching moment that I was honored to capture for them, that's truly what makes job the greatest.

After a few portraits of the bride in the bridal suite it was time for the ceremony and Micayla and Franklin had a few tricks up their sleeve. After their engagement session Franklin had asked me to send him about a dozen or so images in black and white so that he could have them printed onto the lining of his suit jacket, so when he revealed it to her as she walked down the aisle I was there to capture her reaction.

Then in order to determine who would read their vows first they played rock, paper, scissor--and Franklin won!

After the ceremony we did family photos and bridal party photos, then we had just a few minutes to get some bride and groom shots before heading into the reception, and I stole a few extra moments just before they went in to get a few photos in the corridor on the way, which turned out to be a few of my favorite captures of the day.

The reception was great with the parent dances being one of the highlights, along with the shoe game and speeches. After taking them out for some golden hour sunset pics we went back into the party and got some high energy "shutter drag" shots on the dance floor then I took the couple out for some moonlight pictures outside the venue before returning for some more dancing.

The sparkler exit capped off the night and the couple was off to start the rest of their lives: the perfect ending to a perfect wedding day.
